Funding Options and Referrals

Home Base Podiatry provides mobile podiatry services across Brisbane and surrounding areas in Queensland. Consultations are delivered in the comfort of your home and may be accessed privately or through a range of funding programs.

Private Patients

Many clients access podiatry services privately.

Private consultations include a comprehensive foot and lower limb health assessment and treatment delivered during a home visit. All consultation fees include travel within the service area.

Private patients may also be eligible to claim rebates through their private health insurance extras cover, depending on their level of cover.

Private Health Insurance

Clients with extras cover for podiatry may be able to claim a rebate for consultations.

Home Base Podiatry uses a portable Tyro machine, allowing on-the-spot claims for eligible private health funds and Medicare claims during your appointment.

If there is a gap payment after your claim has been processed, this can also be paid at the time of your appointment. A receipt can also be provided for clients who prefer to submit claims directly through their private health insurer.

Rebate amounts vary depending on your health fund, level of cover, and individual eligibility.

Chronic Disease Management (CDM) Plans (Medicare)

Patients with certain chronic medical conditions may be eligible for Medicare rebates through a Chronic Disease Management (CDM) Plan, arranged by their General Practitioner (GP).

Under this program:

  • Eligible patients may access up to five allied health visits per calendar year
  • These visits are shared across all allied health providers (such as podiatry, physiotherapy or dietetics)
  • A Medicare rebate is available for each eligible visit

Because Home Base Podiatry provides mobile consultations, a gap payment will apply between the Medicare rebate and the consultation fee. Patients must have a valid CDM referral from their GP prior to the appointment to claim the Medicare rebate. Private patients may also be eligible to claim rebates through their private health insurance extras cover, depending on their level of cover.
